Dreaming, creating and hoping to inspire you

So, here I am...starting a blog. It's weird for me to say that, considering I'm not a writer (at all) and I've really intimidated by the thought of starting a blog. I mean, who would actually be interested in reading what I post? Well, despite my fears, I decided to take this on. It's more of a self-driven challenge, to prove to myself that I can even do this. All the craft projects I take on seem to be in the same vein - proving that I can do anything I put my mind to. That's an important lesson for me to instill in my kids, especially for my son who can be just as timid as I am (it's kinda scary when you see so much of yourself in your kid).

My current project was inspired by a dear friend of mine who lives in Minnesota. Her name is Beth, and boy do I wish she lived closer!   We would have so much fun together hunting down awesome finds at thrift stores if she were still local.  Anyway, when we visited her and her family last summer, I noticed that she refinished her old wooden hutch and made it into a beautiful light-bluish/gray t.v. stand. What a transformation!!  It was then that I was bit by the furniture refinishing bug, and soon after went in search of the perfect pieces to redo and add to my guest room. I always think, "if _______ can do it, what's to stop me from trying?" So I did!

Stay tuned for posts on my latest projects and some throwbacks to older ones. I've dabbled in cake decorating, furniture refinishing, and have delved deep into scrapbooking for over 15 years.  Who knows what other craft I may try. Any suggestions?

I hope to share my creations and inspire you to try something new, something that may be a stretch for you. It's quite refreshing to conquer a new skill!

My artistic genes are strong, since, just like my dad...I'd rather be creating than doing anything else.

Until next time, when I post my latest project...

                                           ...Dream, create and be inspired!

Maggie
